A Sense of Wonder Now Available

A Sense of Wonder is a book of 50 poems I wrote between 2014 and 2021. They were not chosen to fit any particular theme, although nature, loss, God and home are all featured prominently. I was really pleased to have John Guzlowski write the forward. He is quite a well-known American poet who has been nominated twice for the Pulitzer, and he’s been a bit of a mentor for me over the past few years.

The book will be available from hundreds of retailers and libraries around the world in July, but for now you can buy it directly from me here.

Live in Australia is Out!

Live in Australia is a collection of spoken word poetry set to the exquisite guitar of Tony McManus and was recorded in Brisbane on March 13th of this year. The album has just been released and is available for sale directly from me on this website here. you can listen to a preview of the first single here on YouTube.

“Bob Jensen’s poetry is more than the sum of its parts. It isn’t just the liquid quality of the  language that packs a punch like a Mickey Finn, it isn’t just the clarity of expression that paints scenes so crisp and clear that you can smell the salt and the clouds and the earth, it’s more than being given flinching memories of your own deepest feelings. Listening to Bob Jensen read his poetry is a sublime, immersive experience as powerful as flying and drowning simultaneously.  He slides between narrative observation as sharp as a scalpel to limbic-brain understanding that is almost purely intuition. His stories are basic enough – us as a part of the whole -  it’s the way that he tells them that takes you somewhere else.
His voice has the strength and softness of a good suede glove; his style is so natural that it becomes an art form in itself. Combine this talent with the musical backing of Tony McManus, one of  the most exquisitely individual and accomplished guitarists on the planet, a man who could craft music out of granite and make you weep for the beauty of it, and the result is pure, unadulterated bliss.
At the start of a Jensen/ McManus concert, take a good, deep breath. There’s a chance you’ll still be holding it at the end – just because you’ve forgotten to breathe. “
